Chicago's Eryn Allen Kane has quietly made a name for herself singing support—most notably on Prince's "Baltimore" and on Chance the Rapper and the Social Experiment's Surf—but she's got a voice rich in timbre and worthy of its own spotlight, as she will demonstrate with her debut EP, Aviary, which is due later this year.
While Kane's debut release "Have Mercy" was all about her take-you-to-church voice, her second, more sonically restrained single "Slipping" is a showcase for her emotional depth. It's hard to say if this is a song better suited for falling in or out of love, and she deigned to define it further: "I'd like for people to choose what it means to them.
